Goodyear Kicks Off Southern States Flood Relief Programme

Goodyear Malaysia to Raise Over RM100,000

In the spirit of humanitarian aid, Goodyear Malaysia has set in motion a three-pronged campaign to raise RM100,000. Known as the Goodyear Flood Recovery Drive, Goodyear Malaysia aims to catalyze the rebuilding of lives in flood affected areas of the southern states in Malaysia.

The first initiative will see more than 250 Goodyear Servitekar stores nationwide donating one tire for every two tires sold on January 26. Proceeds from the sale together with funds contributed by Goodyear staff will be utilised to purchase food, medicine and clothing.for the people affected by the floods.

“We in Goodyear are deeply moved by the plight of the people in the Southern States and the donations are part of our contribution to the community,” said Tuan Haji Zakariah Ahmad, Managing Director of Goodyear Malaysia. He added, “Goodyear had previously given out donations during the tsunami in aid of the victims.”

The second initiative is aimed at assisting Goodyear dealers. Goodyear will hand out financial assistance of RM10,000 and RM1,000 to its affected direct dealers - Goodyear Servitekar and Goodyear Express stores respectively.

In addition, this initiative also allows purchases made by the affected dealers in the months of December last year and January this year to be granted an extended repayment period. This means, the dealers will be granted an extension of credit beyond the normal 30 to 45 days.

Goodyear Malaysia will also facilitate the application process by dealers wishing to apply for the soft loan scheme announced by the government last week. Support would include assisting applicants with the necessary know-how and ensuring relevant documentation and processes are in order. Goodyear will issue a letter of endorsement where applicable to the banks concerned. The goal is to ensure that a speedy recovery is undertaken, thus providing a sustainable business environment for its business partners in the long term

Goodyear Marketing Director, Julian Goh stated, “These initiatives are done in co-operation with our Servitekar partners. They exemplify the solidarity and long tradition of helping one another in the Goodyear family.”
